Alicia Keys World Concert On jakarta Indonesia

Philip Morris International has pulled down billboards and posters promoting an Alicia Keys concert Thursday in Indonesia’s capital after the singer protested the cigarette company’s sponsorship.

Logo and slogans of Sampoerna A-mild cigarettes produced by Philip Morris subsidiary, which prominently in advertisements for the concert.

The Washington-based Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids anti-smoking organizations Keys initially drew the attention of the company, along with the show.

In a letter released by her record company Sony BMG Music Entertainment, said she asked the company to stop branding.

“I am a stubborn advocate for the welfare of children in the world and do not forget to approve or smoking,” she said.

Philip Morris International has not said whether it is demanding its money back, not even known how much was paid sponsor of the event.

“Do tobacco sponsorship of musical events leading to the youth smoking is a matter of serious debate,” the company said on Thursday in a statement. “After our investigation of the facts in this particular case we decided to all stamps in the context of this concert.”

More than 30% of Indonesia 220 million people smoke, that is ga fifth largest market for tobacco in the world, according to the World Health Organisation.

In the United States, Philip Morris USA and other major tobacco companies are prohibited from sponsorship, concerts, but not those in Indonesia. Partner, HM
Sampoerna, regularly sponsors sports events and pop concerts in Indonesia.

Philip Morris is not only a sponsor of the concert, and the event was announced as a “soft Production Live”, which implies that the main backer.

Health issues in the campaign as a toll on the sale of cigarettes in the West, tobacco companies have targeted marketing campaigns for developing countries like Indonesia
